Disaster Food Stamps

Provides food stamp coupons to households who have lost food, income or liquid resources due to a declared disaster in situations where the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) has approved activation of the program. Households are certified for two weeks to a month depending on USDA approvals and must be in a situation where they can purchase and prepare meals.

Provides individualized benefits counseling support to people who receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) via the Work Incentives Planning and Assistance (WIPA) program. Counseling support is provided by Community Work Incentives Coordinators (CWIC) who will help participants understand how work will impact their income and healthcare benefits. Participants will be taught how to use work incentives to return to work to increase their financial self-sufficiency.
