Description

Provides electric service payment assistance programs that help pay the electric bills of people whose electricity has been or is at risk of being disconnected, or provides non-emergency subsidy programs in which households receive predetermined amounts that are sent directly to their utility provider.

Please bring with you or include in application: * Picture ID of applicant * Social Security cards or Permanent Resident cards of all household members, including children * Birth dates of all household members * Proof of all household income (of all members) from the preceding month * Most current electric bill, or a statement from your landlord if electric expenses are included in your rent, or a statement from the utility company if you participate in a pre-pay program * For Winter Crisis assistance, must bring a disconnect or past due notice; or if rent includes heat, a copy of the lease and eviction notice; or if in a pre-pay electric program, must bring a statement from the utility company showing 10 days or less of electric service remains * For LIHEAP Fall Subsidy or Winter Crisis, the account number and name on the account for main heating fuel sources and electric bill

      Special Notes/Funding

      The transportation service of Northeast Kentucky Community Action Agency cannot be provided to some residents of Boyd and Greenup Counties based on the person's address if the location falls within the territory of another urbanized transit system such as the Ashland Bus System. Call 800-817-4443 if there are questions about availability of service in a particular area.

      Description

      Provides flexibly scheduled, curb-to curb or door-to-door transportation services for the general public that can take riders to locations such as school, work, adult and childcare centers, medical facilities and recreational destinations. Patrons generally live in a rural area not served by a public transit system. The bus service can also provide clients with a connection to the Greyhound Bus stop in Ashland, KY as well as a connection to get to the Lexington, KY Bluegrass Airport.

                  Provides parenting education in the family setting as well as in-home services that address the children's physical, mental, emotional and educational needs.                             Description

                            Provides in-person assistance by trained staff known as kynectors to help people apply for healthcare insurance through the State-Based Marketplace, and when eligible, apply for health insurance premium assistance, Medicaid, or the Kentucky Children's Health Insurance Program. Kynectors can also help people begin an application for SNAP or CCAP, recertify benefits or report changes in information.

                                      Free non-emergency medical transportation is only provided to military veterans. Non-military individuals are charged a fee for paratransit service to medical facilities based on the miles traveled.                                       Provides military veterans transportation to VA hospitals/medical facilities at no charge for medical appointments or for other non-emergency medical needs. Clients are picked up at their point of origin and taken to their destination as opposed to using a fixed route service.

                                                Special Notes/Funding

Applications are typically completed at the Community Services/LIHEAP Office in the county where the client resides.

                                                Description

                                                Provides assistance to help low-income homeowners or renters lower utility costs and reduce energy waste by making their homes more energy efficient, as well as make minor home repairs for health and safety reasons. Trained inspectors and crews retrofit housing for eligible families if initial inspection determines the dwelling can be adequately modified. The work includes installing insulation, air sealing, door weather stripping, window caulking, seal and insulate duct work, and replacing heating equipment where necessary.
