Special Notes/Funding
The 2022 Christmas Basket sign-up period for current Helping Hands clients will begin Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at 10:00 am and will end either when available baskets run out or on Monday, November 14, 2022 at 2:30 pm, whichever comes first. *Exception: Clients who normally receive monthly food boxes/CSFP boxes at the McKell Branch Library will sign up in person during the South Shore distribution on Friday, November 18, 2022, and this is the only day sign-ups will occur in South Shore.
Description
Provides a food basket for Christmas to eligible Greenup County residents.

Required Documents
Please bring with you at time of Christmas basket pick-up: * Picture ID * If an alternate person has been designated at initial sign-up to pick up the Christmas Basket for the client, the alternate person must present both their own picture ID as well as the client's ID

Must be a current Helping Hands of Greenup County client which is defined as any household that has an active Helping Hands client file as of October 21, 2022 and has received food assistance on or after July 1, 2022

The utility service provider is contacted to determine the amount of assistance required to prevent termination of services. Can only pay the last $100 towards a client's bill. An emergency situation has to exist within the past 60 days. Payments are made directly to the utility provider.

Examples of life sustaining medication include, but are not limited to heart conditions, blood pressure, diabetes or post-cancer treatment. Narcotics, mood altering and other non-life sustaining medications are not provided. Arrangements and payments are made directly with local pharmacies.
