Provides a variety of services and programs including family support, child care, child and adult protection, eligibility determinations for Medicaid and food benefits and administration of an energy cost-assistance program. Description
Assesses the needs and capabilities of children who have been relinquished for adoption. Compiles the children's social and medical histories. Makes arrangements for care and supervision of the children prior to placement. Evaluates and approves prospective adoptive applicants.

Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP)
Description
Provides subsidies to help families pay and obtain child care that allows parents to work, attend education and training programs and/or participate in the Kentucky Temporary Assistance Program. Child care subsidies are also available for child protective services.

People in mass care shelters are not eligible. If a household continues to need Food Stamp assistance after the certification period, they must apply for the regular Food Stamp program.
Description
Provides food stamp coupons to households who have lost food, income or liquid resources due to a declared disaster in situations where the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) has approved activation of the program. Households are certified for two weeks to a month depending on USDA approvals and must be in a situation where they can purchase and prepare meals.
